Welcome
Welcome to Henham and Ugley Primary and Nursery School
I am proud to be the Headteacher of Henham and Ugley Primary and Nursery School, a one year intake school nestled in the heart of our beautiful countryside community of Henham, located between Bishop’s Stortford and Saffron Walden.
At Henham, we offer a thoughtfully planned and ambitious curriculum that challenges all our pupils and prepares them for life beyond primary school. Our vision is clear: we want every child to leave our nurturing environment as well-rounded individuals, academically confident, morally grounded, and socially equipped to thrive as responsible citizens.
Our core values: healthy mind and body, individuality, technology, curiosity, and care for our local environment—are woven into everything we do. These values guide our teaching, shape our culture, and inspire our children to grow into their best selves.
We are fortunate to have a full-time nursery provision on site, which allows many of our youngest children to become familiar with school routines early on, making their transition into Reception smooth and positive. We also offer wraparound care from 7:15am to 6:15pm, bookable through our school office. This service is run in-house by our dedicated staff, ensuring continuity and a deep understanding of each child across different settings.
Our vibrant Parent School Association (PSA) plays a vital role in our school life, organising a wide range of events, from Christmas fairs and summer fêtes to movie nights and comedy evenings for parents. These events not only raise valuable funds for enriching school experiences but also help foster strong friendships and a sense of community amongst our families.
We are supported by an active and engaged governing body, working collaboratively to ensure our school continues to grow and improve. Together with our committed staff team, we strive to create a school environment that is safe, kind, calm, nurturing, well-disciplined, and academically challenging.
We want every child to build joyful memories of their primary school years and form lasting friendships that carry them forward.
If you’d like to learn more about our school, I’d be delighted to show you around. Please contact our school office to arrange a visit.
